ITALIAN BATTAGLIONE SAN MARCO JACKET - 1990
PRESENT
Original Italian army jacket customized with POST NO MYAR silkscreen printing that recalls the signs with the text POST NO BILLS present in American urban streets near construction sites. In these places it is forbidden to post flyers, when it happens the builders erase them by covering them with tone on tone paint: this fading effect recreates a sort of urban camouflage
POST NO MYAR reflects the respect that MYAR wants to maintain towards the beauty of the original garments.
PAST
The 1st Regiment "San Marco" is a military naval infantry unit in force with the Italian Navy, officially established in 1919. Together with the 2nd and 3rd Regiments, the Battalion Supporting Command, the Battalion Schools Caorle and the Group of landing vehicles, constitutes the Navy Brigade "San Marco", that is the landing force of the Navy. From March 1, 2013 the Navy's landing force took the name of Navy Brigade "San Marco", and the regiment has become the 1st Regiment "San Marco". Over the decades the men of San Marco, sometimes improperly called "marò" (from the bureaucratic abbreviation written "mar.o" for sailor), have been organized form time to time in battalion, regiment and finally brigade. The motto of the regiment, "Per mare, per terram" is the same as that of the British Royal Marines.
MYAR commitment is to bring back to life past used military garments that have been stocked for long time in darkened warehouse, bringing back the light in the present time, for a second life in a civil environment.
The up-cycling process involving MYAR is not only an aesthetic intervention but also a process of historical knowledge
On each garment is applied a QR code that, once scanned, will tell the historical origin of the piece and the type of workmanship that has been made.
This process of customization is also witnessed by a small white cloth sachet containing scraps of fabrics: a part of the past of this garment, which has been modified from the original to be worn today for the future coming.
Our packaging bag is made of 97% vegetable fibre (beetroot or sugar cane). The only reason this does not reach 100% is because it is manufactured using machines that usually process plastic which may leave small traces behind. The raw material is completely petrol-free and fossil substance-free. We ask you to always be careful not to dispose of it in the environment, but for safety we have added an additive that makes it completely biodegradable within 48 months.
MYAR is committed every day to selecting products that do not pollute the planet.
MYAR a modern viwe of the past
