RE_DROP02 /RE_INTEGRATION
Loyal to its mantra, MYAR continues its battle against overconsumption by launching the second drop of its “Re_Drop” direct-to-consumer project, aiming at offering cool fashion items, while raising awareness about the future of our planet.
Focusing on climate change’s dramatic impacts, MYAR presents “Re-Integration,” a genderless capsule dedicated to endangered animals living in different places around the world.
In particular, the Greek meadow viper, endemic to the high-elevation alpine meadow grasslands in the Pindos Mountain chain of Albania and Greece, as well as the snow leopard, whose habitat, especially in the eastern Himalayas, is being increasingly encroached upon by humans, are the ultimate protagonists of the collection.
A jacket in a Romanian camouflage is enriched with patches crafted from a cotton fabric printed with an image of the viper. Using the same technique, patches featuring the snow leopard embellish a zippered khaki jacket evoking the American navy styles.
The pants worn by women working in the cartridges factories during World War II inspire the lightweight long and short trousers crafted from deadstock cotton, while a drawstring pants style shows a striped layer peeping out from the hem.
The capsule also includes a 90’s British camouflage short-sleeved overshirt overprinted on the back with the image of a snow leopard and embellished with patches celebrating not only the endangered animal, but also the sartorial roots of the brand.
The “Re-Integration” and “Re-locate” wordings pop up in the graphics printed with natural pigments on deadstock cotton T-shirts and sweatshirts by clothing manufacturer Gildan, which features a range of sustainability certifications, including WRAP and STANDARD 100 by OEKO-TEX.
Experimenting with different artisanal techniques, MYAR also embellished a US navy sweatshirt with a padded viper wrapping around the item’s printed emblem and using thermo bonding created captivating, edgy effects on Gildan deadstock T-shirt and carryover hoodies.
Completing the collection, where all the garments are dyed with GOTS certified or mineral pigments, a bucket hat crafted from a patchwork of deadstock fabrics is printed with the MYAR logo.
Launching during Earth Day, on Apr. 22, a sweatshirt and a T-shirt printed on the back with the brand’s mantra, feature on the front a padded application of Planet Earth.
MYAR’s Drop 02 _ Re-Integration will be the protagonist of a special installation developed in collaboration with set-designer Michela Croci, who uses upcycling re-usable materials. The collection will be available at the Rinascente department store in Milan from April 19th to May 2nd. The following day, it will be on sale at MYAR’s online store.
