ITK80
ITALIAN E.I. SWEATER - 1980'S
PRESENT
This army green, Italian rib knit sweater has woven reinforcement on both elbows and shoulders.
We apply the Hungarian shirt camouflage leftovers on top of all woven reinforcements.
PAST
100% wool sweater, former equipment for Italian army officers in the 80's.
The camouflage pattern, derived from the preexisting M1949 developed in the late 1940’s, was slightly modified to become the new M1982.
The M1982 showed new colors (brown/reddish) and olive green blurry shapes, hence why it was called ‘soft’.
This common pattern was considered the national Hungarian standard camouflage and it was also known as ‘tricolor’ or ‘swirl’.
It was also used to camouflage vehicles on the battle field. At the moment it is no longer being used: starting in the 1990’s it was substituted by another pattern more similar to the classic ‘woodland’, used in France and Italy.
MYAR commitment is to bring back to life past used military garments that have been stocked for long time in darkened warehouse, bringing back the light in the present time, for a second life in a civil environment.
The up-cycling process involving MYAR is not only an aesthetic intervention but also a process of historical knowledge
On each garment is applied a QR code that, once scanned, will tell the historical origin of the piece and the type of workmanship that has been made.
This process of customization is also witnessed by a small white cloth sachet containing scraps of fabrics: a part of the past of this garment, which has been modified from the original to be worn today for the future coming.
MYAR a modern view of the past
