PAST
TEXTILE PATCHWORK
Patchwork is the art of mosaic mending, and has its roots as far back as the Middle Ages, when the wives of crusader soldiers made garments from multiple layers and panels of quilted fabric sewn together, to protect the skin from the imposing iron armour.
The technique was then developed over the centuries by American pioneers who recycled the parts in better condition of worn-out garments for repairing other garments or for making new ones.
