KOALA
The Koala “bear” is the only classified tree-climbing marsupial. It doesn’t have a tail and its feet have 5 prehensile toes which help it to climb. It sleeps up to 18 hours a day, particularly during the warmest hours, and eats so much eucalyptus that its very soft fur often takes on the smell.
It lives exclusively in Australia, particularly on the east coast where there are eucalyptus forests.
This magnificent animal is an endangered species: its natural habitat, the eucalyptus forests along the east coast of Australia, have been devastated by climate change, pollution, the enormous forest fires of 2019 and desertification.
