THE AMAZON JAGUAR IS SLOWLY DISAPPEARING

The jaguar is one of the most endangered species in the Amazon rainforest. This feline, which can reach a length of 2.5 m and a weight of 120 kg, is an excellent swimmer, a nocturnal animal with a solitary character and an extraordinarily beautiful spotted coat.

Its existence is seriously threatened by deforestation caused by fires, which are wiping out 12,000 square kilometres per year of tropical forest, the consequent decline in prey and poaching: it will become increasingly rare to see it!
