THE HELICONIA IS SLOWLY DISAPPEARING

Heliconia is a large tropical plant native to the rain regions of South America, Central America, the Pacific Islands and Indonesia.

It has oval-shaped leaves resembling the claws of a lobster and showy inflorescences in bright yellow and fuchsia.

Uncontrolled deforestation, which is causing the disappearance of 12,000 square kilometres of tropical forest per year, is seriously threatening the survival of this plant species, and its sugary nectar, which attracts several species of ants, will become hard to find!
